San Jose has been playing great lately, but they've been playing a little better than their run differential. Fortunately for them, Modesto is too, and the Nuts haven't been playing well. Their pitching has been faltering, and that needs to turn it around in the final 17 games. Bakersfield isn't underachieving as much, but their pythagorean record isn't over .500 anymore either. Visalia has fallen badly over the past few weeks. Nothing is working for them right now, and they probably need to look towards the second half if they're going to make the playoffs.

Like San Jose, Lake Elsinore is above their expected record, but that doesn't take away from the great season they're having. High Desert should be closer to them than they are, but they're still in a very good position, thanks to a good head to head record against the Storm so far. Rancho Cucamonga is just behind High Desert, so they still have a chance. Neither Inland Empire nor Lancaster has had the first half they wanted. Lancaster is already eliminated, and Inland Empire is not far behind.
