Cal League Condensed: 6/1 Preview

Another month is in the books. Time is running down for the teams looking to secure a bye in the playoffs.

Inland Empire 66ers v. Lancaster JetHawks 7:00 PM PT
Ethan Martin v. Ross Seaton
Notes: Inland Empire is going for a series sweep... Lancaster has lost 11 in a row... Ethan Martin is coming off a CGSHO against Bakersfield... Martin has only allowed one run in his last two starts and 15 strikeouts to only five walks... Ross Seaton has lost four straight starts... Seaton's only quality start of the season was on 4/19... Game will be available on 1050 AM in Inland Empire and 1380 AM in Lancaster as well as www.kcaaradio.com, www.jethawks.com and www.milb.com...

EDIT: George Sherrill will start tonight for Inland Empire, but I'd imagine he won't pitch long enough to knock Martin off his schedule. He'll probably pitch in relief again.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes v. San Jose Giants 7:00 PM PT
Ryan Chaffee v. Kyle Nicholson
Notes: Rubber match of three game series... Ryan Chaffee pitched seven shutout innings in his last start... That was Chaffee's first start allowing fewer than four runs... Kyle Nicholson allowed a season high in runs and hits in his last start... Nicholson has an 8.80 ERA in night games... Game will be available on 1510 AM in Rancho Cucamonga as well as www.rcquakes.com, www.sjgiants.com and www.milb.com...

High Desert Mavericks v. Lake Elsinore Storm 7:05 PM PT
Maikel Cleto v. Nick Schmidt
Notes: Rubber match of three game series... Maikel Cleto pitched three innings in his first start since coming off the DL... Prior to that start, Cleto made two relief appearances and allowed three runs in four innings... Nick Schmidt hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in six starts... Schmidt has allowed three earned runs in 10 innings against High Desert this year... Game will be available on 92.9 FM in High Desert as well as www.milb.com...

EDIT: Kyle Blanks will be rehabbing with Lake Elsinore tonight.

Stockton Ports v. Modesto Nuts 7:05 PM PT
TBA v. Kenny Durst
Notes: Stockton is going for a series sweep... I hate listing TBA, but milb.com lists Murphy Smith, and he was assigned to A Kane County... Michael Madsen and Paul Oseguera are possibilities... Kenny Durst has allowed nine hits in two of his last three starts... One of Durst's worst starts of the season came against Stockton, allowing four runs in 3.1 IP... Game will be available on 1280 AM and 970 AM in Modesto as well as www.milb.com...

EDIT: Paul Oseguera is indeed starting according to milb.com.

Visalia Rawhide v. Bakersfield Blaze 7:30 PM PT
Ryan Cook v. Jacob Brigham
Notes: Bakersfield is going for a series sweep... Visalia has lost seven straight... Ryan Cook allowed four runs in four innings in his first start since coming off the DL... Cook has given up 18 runs this year, and 13 of them came in his last two starts... After posting a 3.05 ERA in April, Jacob Brigham has a 9.13 ERA in May... Brigham's last two starts have lasted a combined 4.2 IP... Game will be available on 1270 AM in Visalia as well as www.milb.com...
