Pythagorean Records: 6/12 Edition

This is the second to last time I'll be doing this in the first half. The next time will be during the All Star Break as a "what could've been" kind of thing.

Modesto hung in there for just about the entire first half, but their pitching has struggled lately, and San Jose will probably come away with the first half title. For the most part, the Nuts score as much as the Giants, but a recent blowout or tow has caused the runs allowed column to skyrocket. Bakersfield had a horrible week and was recently eliminated. At this point, Visalia and Stockton are pretty even, with Visalia trading in some offense for better pitching. Right now, the North is a two horse race, and with the way San Jose has been playing lately, they should come away with it.

Unfortunately for High Desert, they've only played about .500 baseball the past week in the real world while Lake Elsinore continued to beat everyone in sight. Lake Elsinore may be overachieving a little, but they have the second most runs in the league and the fewest allowed. About a month ago, I had questions about the Storm pitching, but lately they've been turning in some good performances. Rancho Cucamonga moved into second place last night, but going by runs scored and runs allowed, it's clear that High Desert has been the better team. Inland Empire is going to struggle to score without Kyle Russell, and everything it still going wrong for Lancaster.
