Odd Splits

I'm bored on the 80% off day, so I'll go player by player and see if I can find some unusual splits from players in the Cal League. I'll have another entry coming tonight.

- Bakersfield's Michael Main has allowed 11 home runs, 10 of which came with the bases empty.

- After hitting .209 against lefties last year, Bakersfield's Engel Beltre is hitting .400 against them in 2010.

- High Desert's Denny Almonte has a 1.332 OPS in day games and .673 under the lights.

- Eight of the 11 position players currently on High Desert's roster have a better home OPS than road OPS.

- Charlie Haeger on rehab from the Dodgers has a better K/9 in the majors than in his stint with Inland Empire.

- Lake Elsinore starter Anthony Bass has an 8.48 K/9 at home and only 3.91 on the road.

- Allan Dykstra, Lake Elsinore's 1B, has an overall season average of .205 but hits .304 w/ RISP.

- Lancaster's closer David Berner allowed four of his 10 earned runs this season in 1 inning of day baseball compared to the other six in 24.2 night IP.

- Albert Cartwright has been Lancaster's best hitter this year with an overall season .320 OPS and .913 OPS, but he only hits .216 with a .621 OPS with runners in scoring position.

- Like Stater Bros. Stadium in High Desert, Lancaster's Clear Channel Stadium is known for inflating offensive stats. 10 of the 12 position players on Lancaster's roster have a higher OPS at home.

- Six of the seven earned runs Modesto reliever Rex Brothers has allowed have come in 3.1 day baseball innings. The other run came in 22 night innings.

- Modesto starter Kenny Durst is listed as a switch hitter but hasn't taken a professional at bat, and as far as I can tell, didn't at West Virginia either.

- Rancho Cucamonga reliever Chris Scholl is another player that struggles in the day. In 5.2 afternoon innings, Scholl has allowed 16 hits and 11 runs compared to 15 hits and 5 runs in 17.1 IP at night.

- Injured Quake Dillon Baird hits just .210 at home but .354 on the road.

- Cal League stolen base leader Tyson Auer of Rancho Cucamonga has a better CS% against left handed pitchers.

- San Jose ace Eric Surkamp has a 1.00 ERA at home and a 4.18 ERA on the road with similar innings pitched.

- Charlie Culberson of San Jose has a season batting average of .293 but only hits .214 w/ RISP.

- Fautino De Los Santos, rehabbing from arm surgery with Stockton, has only allowed runs against left handed batters.

- Stockton shortstop Grant Green's OPS is 300 points higher against lefties.

- Jeremy Barfield is a rare left handed thrower that bats lefty.

- Visalia's ace Wade Miley has the same ERA against righties and lefties.

- Paul Goldschmidt of Visalia only hits .147 w/ RISP.

Some of those probably won't be interesting to anyone but me, and many of them say the same thing but about a different player. Oh well. Games pick up again tomorrow.
